ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), a pivotal arm of the Department of Homeland Security, unveiled its new dedicated website, HSI.gov. This initiative aims to enhance public engagement and provide detailed insights into the agency’s comprehensive role in combating global threats.

As the principal investigative agency within the Department of Homeland Security, HSI is known for its extensive and versatile law enforcement capabilities, which allow it to address emergent threats effectively. The launch of HSI.gov is set to function as a pivotal resource for understanding the agency’s mission, showcasing its broad legal authorities and the diverse nature of its operations.

Katrina W. Berger, Homeland Security Investigations Executive Associate Director, stated, 'The new website reflects HSI's steadfast commitment to our mission and core values in protecting American lives from global threats. With enforcement capabilities across more than 400 criminal statutes, our agency's impact on public safety and community security is immediate and far-reaching.'

HSI.gov is designed to serve a wide array of stakeholders, including local and international law enforcement agencies and non-governmental organizations involved in crime prevention and victim assistance. The website will feature educational and informational resources that highlight the agency's key operations, partnerships, and community involvement.

Homeland Security Investigations operates on a global scale to tackle crime both domestically and internationally, dealing with issues as varied as cybercrime, human trafficking, drug smuggling, and intellectual property theft. Their global presence includes offices in over 250 cities in the United States and more than 90 offices across over 50 countries, emphasizing the international scope of their operations.

A significant aspect of HSI’s approach is its collaboration with diverse partners, including other law enforcement agencies, the private sector, and local communities. These partnerships are crucial for effectively addressing global crime and ensuring public safety.

The website also underscores HSI's rich history, which dates back to the founding of the U.S. Customs Service in 1789, an agency initially crucial to the financial stability of the young nation. Over the centuries, the responsibilities of this service have evolved significantly, leading to its current mandate within DHS. The Homeland Security Act of 2002, prompted by the need for a coordinated national security effort following the September 11 attacks, established DHS and subsequently HSI as we know it today.

In her statement, Berger reiterated the agency's pledge: 'HSI is committed to protecting American lives and fighting global threats. Our job is critical, and we do it every day across the United States and around the world.'
