Cibola General awarded top honor
Cibola General Hospital in Grants, N.M., has earned the Quest for Excellence Award, the New Mexico Hospital Association’s premier honor in hospital quality and performance improvement. The hospital was honored for a project that enlisted multiple teams and approaches to raise inpatient flu vaccination rates by 42 percent in just one year, a significant public health gain for the Grants community. The awards were presented in a ceremony at the 73rd Annual Meeting of the New Mexico Hospital Association in Albuquerque.
Thomas Whelan, CEO; Maria Atencio, Co-Chief Nursing Officer; and Ambroshia Mandagaran director of quality and risk management, accepted the award from Andrew Shin, Chief Operating Officer of the American Hospital Association Center for Health Innovation and John Harris, CEO of Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, N.M., and a member of the NMHA Quality Committee and Board of Directors. Commitment to quality and patient safety, they said, is central to the mission of NMHA and AHA member hospitals.
