A memorial bowling event will be held on Sat., Dec. 8, 2018, starting at 11 a.m. to celebrate the wonderful life of Fidel Encinio.
Joseph Fidel Encinio passed away on Nov. 21, 2018. He was 91 years old.
Fidel was born on Sept. 9, 1927, in Gallup, N.M., the second oldest and the oldest boy of eight children. His father passed away when Fidel was 11 years old and he became “the man of the house.”
Fidel served in the Navy during World War II, after leaving the Navy at the end of the war he returned to Gallup. As a young adult he fell in love with the sport of bowling and his greatest wish was to own a bowling center. In 1967 Fidel was able to purchase Thunderbird Lanes in Grants, N.M., from the Elkins family and for the remainder of his life he lived his dream.
Fidel is survived by his wife, Sandy; his sons; Robert and John; his daughters: Jeri and Kim; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his daughter: Toni.
