Franklin R. Hilliard, Jr.
Franklin R. Hilliard, Jr. was born in Grants, New Mexico on December 12, 1960 and died May 13, 2020.
Franklin was a graduate of Grants High School, class of 1978. While in high school, he participated in pole vaulting, track, and football. He placed second in the State Wrestling Championship. Franklin proudly served in the Army and was honorably discharged in 1981. He was a talented artist, enjoying drawing and painting. He loved fishing and the outdoors, and he did yardwork for several Grants families over the years. He worked many years at the family business, Auto Clinic, and at Voight’s Shell. Franklin loved watching sunrises and sunsets, and he truly enjoyed surprising people.
Franklin was a believer in Christ, he was saved, and we rejoice to know we will see him again soon.
Franklin was preceded in death by his mother: Jessie M. Hilliard. He is survived by his father: Franklin R. Hilliard Sr.; sisters: Sylvia Cargill, W. Pearl (husband Keith) Bridgeman, Lydia (husband Greg) Sutherlin; and brother: Keith (wife Diane) Hilliard; son: Tonyaa Hilliard; and his beloved aunts: Willie Mae Mitchell and Bessie Mae Moseley; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Due to current social distancing/stay at home requirements, the family of Franklin R. Hillard welcomed family and friends with a drive-thru wake where people came and celebrated his life with us on Monday, May 18, at the family home at 828 Jefferson.
