Feeding Cibola’s hungry kids
The Grants-Milan Rotary Club is raising money to feed food insecure children in Cibola County for a third year. The organization goal was to raise about $5,000, by raffling off an elk hunt on Laguna Reservation donated by Governor Virgil Siow. Since the club took over the program three years ago,
Rotarians have raised more than $50,000 to make sure local children have enough food to make it through a weekend at home, according to President Dr. Marc Space. There are currently about 190 children per week who are sent home from school with a backpack full of food for the weekend, according to Space. That number is expected to reach 200 by winter break in December.
