Rotary encourages service to the world
When Paul Harris started Rotary in 1905, his goal was to have professionals working together to serve the local community. As we progressed through the twentieth century and became more globally aware, Rotary began to help not just the local community but the global community.
Rotary International has outlined six goals for the worldwide community. They are: promoting peace; fighting disease; providing clean water, sanitation and hygiene; saving mothers and children; supporting education; and growing local economies. The most notable project since 1979 is the eradication of polio.
