A few good words

The vagaries of fashion seldom stand the test of time. Capriciousness can often raise the amusement factor of daily living. Witness, if you will, such styles as car fins, beehive hairdos and platform shoes. There were the once-popular hula-hoops and the polyester leisure suit.

But style never goes out of style. Back in the 1970s a group of men decided to replicate the discovery of the New World by Irish monks. They used traditional building methods to construct the wood and leather boats which are thought to have sailed between the British Isles, then to Iceland and thence to the North American continent. For the first leg of their journey the modern sailors were supplied with space-age fabrics, freeze-dried foods and other modern conveniences.
