The Court of Appeals, also known as the Appellate Courts, serve an important role in society by reviewing the decisions made by other judges to ensure that the judges act fairly and within their rights as upholders of the law.

The word handed down by the Appellate Court is typically the final word in a court case. Appellate Courts only hear cases if one side believes they were treated improperly by a judge or if it is believed a judge used the incorrect ruling for a law. The judges write formal opinions making their thoughts on matters known to the public.
