May 20 Free Movie – “Ms. Miniver”

This Saturday, the 20th, meet the Miniver family in the film “Ms. Miniver”. Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon star as parent who must keep their family safe while father assists with the Dunkirk evacuation. Show-time is 2 p.m. in the Double Six Art Gallery on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Avenue. Bring a photo of your mother.

Fire and Ice Dance Gathering

Save the date for the Fire and Ice Native American Art and Dance Gathering on Saturday and Sunday, May 20 and 21, 2023, at El Malpais National Monument. This free event will run from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm each day at the El Malpais Visitor Center located at 1900 East Santa Fe Avenue in Grants, NM.

May 23 Cibola Arts Council Announces new Vice President Ms. Merla Olguin is a painter and prepares ‘n presents food. After serving as CAC’s vice-president, she welcomes Mr. John Martinez into the office. He sketches and creates recycled art from fabric and jewelry. Thank you both for your acknowledgement of the “arts”! The CAC board will meet Tuesday, May 23 at 5:15 p.m. in the Double Six Gallery on Route 66. The Public is welcome.

May 27 Free Movie – Ms. Miniver How would you describe your mother? Actress Greer Garson portrayed mothers described as courageous, strong, loyal and loving. “Ms. Miniver” is a film mother that Garson would forever be known by. June 2 Free Concert

Your Double Six Art Gallery, on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Avenue, will be filled with guitar music in the classical genre Friday, June 2 at 6 p.m. Mr. Nathan Franklin is the soloist. No admission fee, so start your weekend by supporting the arts.

June 3 Free Movie – The Great Santini

Former Marines and Marine families are special guests for the Saturday, June 3 movie “The Great Santini” starring Rovert Duvall. Duvall is Bull Meachum, a “Warrior without a war”. Showtime is 2 p.m. at the Double Six Art Gallery on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave. Bring a photo of your father.

Hurray to the make-up artists of “Mrs. Doubtfire”! They earned an Academy Award for turning Robin Williams into a dowdy British housekeeper. This comedy (with serious overtones) has become a crowdpleaser since its release in 1993. Movie date is Saturday, June 17. Venue is the Double Six Art Gallery on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Avenue. July Free Movies in July Three military-themed movies will be shown at the Double Six Art Gallery in July. The offerings are “Born on the 4th of July”, “Raising Colors”, and “Glory”. Movies are scheduled for Saturdays at 2 p.m. Dates are July 1, 15, and 29.

July 1 Free Movie – Born on the Fourth of July “Born on the Fourth of July”, starring Tom Cruise, is a relentlessly realistic and powerful saga of real-life, Vietnam-Marine- Vet Ron Kovic.
