June 20 Art Call

In case you don’t know, “Flight” is the title of the second quarter’s exhibit at the Double Six Art Gallery. If you know the classic instrumental, entitled “The Flight of the Bumblebee,” use it to remember. Artists are interpreting the world in their entries, which are due by June 20. The gallery is on Route 66/1001 West Santa Fe Ave. Have fun and remember – the arts are for EVERYONE!

July Free Movies in July Three military-themed movies will be shown at the Double Six Art Gallery in July. The offerings are “Born on the 4th of July”, “Raising Colors”, and “Glory”. Movies are scheduled for Saturdays at 2 p.m. Dates are July 1, 15, and 29.

July 1 Free Movie – Born on the Fourth of July

Tom Cruise did his own flying in the recent blockbuster “Top Gun, Maverik.” About 35 years ago, this young actor threw himself into the role of Vietnam veteran, Ron Kovic, for the movie, “Born on the Fourth of July.” Join movie-goers Saturday, July 1 at 2 p.m. at the Double Six Art Gallery on Route 66/1001 West Santa Fe Ave. Two more military-themed movies will be shown in July.

Glory” is an exceptional story of America’s first unit of Black soldiers during the Civil War.
