GRANTS, N.M. – Young children and their families combined reading and art at the Grants Public Library on August 13 as Picasso Babies joined the library’s Tot and Me program.
Participants listened to Kitten’s First Full Moon, a children’s story by Kevin Henkes that follows a kitten who mistakes the full moon for a bowl of milk.
After storytime, children took part in a hands-on art activity inspired by the book, creating their own moons and cats.
The activity continued the library’s focus on early literacy through stories, creativity and family participation. Tot and Me has regularly brought young children and caregivers together for age-appropriate books, crafts and other early-learning activities at the Grants Public Library.
