If there are any announcements you would like included in the community calendar, send a brief description of the event, a time and location with contact information to editor@cibolacitizen.com. The community calendar is reserved for non-profits and local events, these announcements will run at no charge but must be under 50 words. Deadline for community calendar submissions is Friday at 5 p.m. 

COMMUNITYALERT Road Closure, City of Grants: There will be a road closure of Iron Ave. from Warren to Santa Fe Ave., including the Iron/High St. intersection, starting on Monday, February 19th, 2024 for 2 to 3 weeks for utility work. Residents of Iron and Hill St. will have access from Warren Ave. Please contact the City of Grants Special Projects office at 505-290-3722 for more information.

March 15

This Friday, the DVD program of music by the New York Philharmonic is “a tribute to teachers.” Randall Thompson, Walter Piston and Fritz Reiner. The video will be shown at 4 p.m. in the Double Six Gallery on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave. Thank you to ALL teachers!

March 16 Free Movie – “Moonlight”

“Moonlight” earned the honor of being named the Best Picture of 2016 at the Academy Awards. Earlier this month, we watched actor Mahershala Ali portray an uptight musician. In this film, his character is a father-figure to a confused teen. Movie begins at 1 p.m. in the Double Six Gallery on Route 66 / 1001 W. Samta Fe Ave. Join us and enjoy this Saturday film.

Spring-Themed Art Exhibit

Artists entering the “Spring”-themed art exhibit at the Double Six Gallery must submit entries by this Saturday, the 16th. A reception for the artists and public will follow Saturday, the 23rd from 3 to 5 p.m. in the gallery on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave. Spring will arrive!

March 23 Free Art Camp

Saturday, March 23 is the second art camp at the Double Six Gallery. Fun begins at 2 p.m. with facilitator Myriah Scarpati-Graham. Pom-pom shooters will be made. Don’t miss it! The venue is on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave.

March 30 Free Movie – “Oppenheimer”

The Academy Awards are over… for a year. Remember – “Oppenheimer”, which won Academy Award for Best Picture this year, will be shown in the Double Six Gallery on Saturday, the 30th. Because of its extra length, the movie begins at 11 a.m. Hope to see you on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave.
