GRANTS, N.M. — The season’s bounty continues to grow at the Grants Farmers Market, which will relocate to City Hall Park this Saturday, May 24th, for Memorial Day weekend — bringing along its signature blend of local produce, garden starts, handmade crafts, and community spirit.

From fresh eggs and freezedried snacks to hand-painted flower pots and bright veggie starts courtesy of Tumbleweed Farms and others, the market remains a weekly highlight for residents and visitors alike.

“We’ve got a little bit of everything out here — and it’s always a beautiful morning,” said market manager Siobhan Archibald. This past weekend’s market was buzzing with face painting, family-friendly games, and dozens of vendors showcasing homemade goods and homegrown treats.

One of the biggest draws? Plant starts — from tomatoes and peppers to herbs and squash — ready to take root in backyard gardens. “This is the time to get your plants in the ground,” Archibald said. “And these are grown locally, hardened for our climate, and ready to produce food for your family.”

Farm-fresh eggs also remain a weekly favorite, with several vendors offering brown and white eggs by the dozen. “There’s something special about buying eggs directly from the person who raised the chickens,” said one marketgoer. “It’s fresher, and it feels good to support someone in our community.”

The Grants Farmers Market continues to accept SNAP/EBT benefits, allowing families to use their food assistance cards on everything from fresh fruits and vegetables to plant starts and baked goods. Thanks to the Double Up Food Bucks program, every dollar withdrawn from an EBT card is matched — providing up to twice as much value for healthy food.

Archibald said the program makes a tangible difference. “A lot of folks still don’t know you can use your EBT here — and even fewer realize that we double it. So if you take out $10, you get $20 to spend, with half dedicated to fresh produce.”

The market also accepts WIC and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program benefits, ensuring access to healthy food for all ages.

As the season continues, the market is expected to grow in both size and offerings — with new vendors joining each week. Shoppers can expect an expanding selection of produce as the weather warms and harvests come in.

The Grants Farmers Market runs every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., now at City Hall Park for the time being. To become a vendor or learn more, follow the market on Facebook or email farmersmarket@grantsnm.gov.
