Making a Difference in Grants-Milan Education with School Supplies for Students in Need

Ina Jean Barnes President of Grants Cibola County Association of Retired Educators networked with Legacy New Mexico to collect and sort school supplies from around the state of New Mexico; that had not been given to the public. The supplies were leftovers from several of their school supply drives.

Barnes gave eight big boxes of supplies to Mesa View Elementary, Mt. Taylor Elementary, and Milan Elementary. The supplies were collected, organized, and donated to go to teachers in the classroom. Teachers can then give needy students the supplies during the school year. The principals of the three schools had all been former students of Barnes in Kindergarten and college.

Barnes taught in area schools for 47 years before retiring.
