A Zoom Christmas Program

Body

Attend from home or come in person. Be inspired by two very special music videos, and a live lessons and carols service. Through the magic of technology, you can enjoy and participate in this Christmas service while remaining at home. Or, you can head on over to the Grants Methodist Church on First Street. The program starts at 11:00 am on Sunday, December 19.

A giant computer will be running Zoom videoconferencing software. Those in the sanctuary can see and communicate with those who are at home, and those at home can see and hear what’s happening in the sanctuary! The giant computer is actually a little laptop computer connected to a projector. The result is a twelve-foot-wide display for all to see. There’s also a giant loudspeaker, which is actually the church’s sound system connected to the laptop. The rest of the setup is a video camera on a tripod and wireless microphones connected to a sound-mixer board, both of which feed into the laptop.

To “attend” from home, just point your computer to the church’s website at fumcgrantsnm.org (which stands for First United Methodist Church of Grants, New Mexico). Then, click the “Sunday Service Link” tab, which takes you to a page containing a Zoom link. When you click this link, free Zoom software will automatically be loaded onto your computer. As if by magic, you’ll then be whisked off to the sanctuary. Give it a try this Sunday! Get onto Zoom five or ten minutes before the service (starts 11 am) so that we can help you over the phone if need be. If you’re thinking of setting up your church for hybrid services, go to mounttaylor.com, where you will find technical information.
