If there are any announcements you would like included in the community calendar, send a brief description of the event, a time and location with contact information to editor@cibolacitizen.com. The community calendar is reserved for nonprofits and local events, these announcements will run at no charge but must be under 50 words. Deadline for community calendar submissions is Friday at 5 p.m.

April 13 Fundraiser for Animals

Just a couple of week… Yes! Saturday, April 13 is the “Four Paws Fiesta Fund-raiser Dance” at the Milan Family Fun Room on Airport Road, from 7-11 p.m. Tickets are $20 per head for adults that can be purchased by phone at 287-2763 or at the door. Silent auction from 7-9 p.m. “Sauvacito” is the band.

Free Movie – “Woman in Gold” “Woman in Gold” stars Helen Mirren as a woman who seeks to regain a family treasure – the Gustav Klimt painting. The Nazis stole many art pieces during WWII. Date is Saturday, April 13 at 1 p.m. in the Double Six Gallery on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave.

Saturday, April 20, 10:00-12:00 am, get your Coggins, Vaccines, Health Certificates, Worming, Coggins Teeth Floating Certificate.Call Airport animal Clinic 505-287-2763 office prior to fair, with the number of horses you need done. This is offered to only horses ‘hauled’ into the Grants rodeo grounds during the fair, so plan on saving a little money and meet other horseman! May 23 Shellebrate World Turtle Day Let’s Party! Grab your party hats, dancing shoes, sunglasses and find that old disco ball, as it’s almost time to party for World Turtle Day™ 2024! American Tortoise Rescue (ATR), a nonprofit organization established in 1990 for the protection of all species turtles and of tortoises, is shellebrating its 24th annual international World Turtle Day on May 23. Join the fun as this year’s theme is “Let’s Party” with rescue favorites Bunkle, Spinner and Evil who are waking up from hibernation and ready to rock the globe. Now, because of global warming, there is a more urgent reason to bring attention to the turtles of the world. It is estimated that 61 percent of turtle species are already extinct. Biologists and other experts predict the disappearance of turtles and tortoises in the wild within the next 50 years. Join the party at http://www.worldturtleday.org/

Leonard Bernstein continues to host and teach about classical music in “Concerts for the People”, a dvd series shown every Friday at 4 p.m. in the Double Six Art Gallery on Route 66 / 1001 W. Santa Fe Ave. The New York Philharmonic plays examples to support the lesson. The arts are for EVERYONE!
