We all know that setting goals is important, but we often don’t realize how important it is that the goals we set in life need to evolve as we move through life.
Benefits and advantages to setting goals:
1. Motivates people, improves mental health, and increases levels of personal and professional success.
2. Triggers new behaviors that guide focus and assist people in finding ways to sustain momentum in life.
3. Aligns focus and promotes a sense of selfmastery.
4. Assists in managing what is not typically measured.
5. Allows us to improve upon something that has not been properly managed in life.
Goal setting does not have to be boring. Work to set goals that will inspire you, have an actionable approach, and create lasting change. Ensure that you are setting goals that are different from more casual, everyday self-improvement efforts. Remember that just because you decide to start running every day doesn’t necessarily make that a conscious goal. So let’s revisit what goal setting means.
Goal setting is a purposeful and explicit process that starts with identifying a new objective, skill, or project you want to achieve. Then, make a plan for achieving it, and begin working to complete the goal.
Example: Instead of just running with no particular purpose, a true goal would be more along the lines of starting a training program to complete a specific race, say a Thanksgiving Day half marathon, which requires much more careful planning, motivation, and discipline.
Goals provide focus.
When you set goals, you take control of your life direction. The decisions and actions made allow you to bring yourself closer to achieving those goals you set.
Setting goals keeps you moving and feeling productive. When you set goals, you create a vision of what your life could look like. Then you start pushing yourself to get the best results possible. To get the most out of your personal goals your goals need to be results-focused rather than action-focused. Strive to create a results-focused goal that offers you pragmatic daily actions.
Write your goals as clear, actionable “yes” or “no” statements. For example: “This week, I spent at least 4 hours in the Welltrack Boost Activity Scheduler focusing on the proactive tasks that will assist me in moving the needle forward for myself.” The great thing about goals written in a yes-or-no format is that it removes all ambiguity and you immediately know three things: 1. Exactly what you need to do, 2. How long you need to do it, and 3. Whether or not you’re on-track.

What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is the practice of being present and fully engaged in the present moment, without judgment or distraction. It involves paying attention to your thoughts, emotions, and sensations in a non-judgmental way, while also being aware of your surroundings.
The goal of mindfulness is to cultivate a sense of calm and inner peace, by focusing on the present moment and letting go of worries or distractions. This can be done through a variety of techniques, such as meditation, breathing exercises, or simply paying attention to your thoughts and feelings as they arise.
One of the key benefits of mindfulness is that it can help reduce stress and anxiety, by helping you to stay centered and focused on the present moment. It can also help improve your overall well-being, by promoting a sense of calm and inner peace.
There are many different ways to practice mindfulness, and what works best for one person may not work as well for another. Some people find it helpful to meditate regularly, while others prefer to engage in mindful activities like yoga or walking in nature. The important thing is to find a practice that works for you, and to make it a regular part of your routine.
