The Village of Milan is getting ready for summer in a big way. Next month may see a ribboncutting ceremony for the soccer complex that will boast a new driveway entrance off Rt. 66, new storage facilities, new restrooms, and a new concession stand all of which are ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant. According to Denise Baca, Clerk for the Village of Milan, “The ribbon- cutting should be sometime in April.”
Kearns Field will be receiving approximately three inches of a new sand/clay infield mix on both infields which should allow players stealing bases to slide into home plate more smoothly. Electrical issues in both bathrooms will be addressed, and fencing for the second outfield as well as two dugouts will be constructed.
While a section of the swimming pool’s roof will be occupied with the construction of a brandnew HVAC system, the pool will remain open. The Parks and Rec Department is tasked with cleaning, annual upkeep, and general beautification projects to enhance the Village green spaces and entice residents reluctant to experience the healing properties of nature to dive in and enjoy even if it’s just a brief walk.
