Los Alamitos Middle School, Grants, NM – Los Alamitos Middle School was recently transformed into a whimsical world of imagination as New Mexico Young Actors, a youth acting troupe from Albuquerque, performed 'Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland' for middle school students. The talented group of young performers, ranging from 6th to 12th grade, brought the classic tale to life with a live performance in the school’s gymnasium.
The performance, held in the school gymnasium, captivated the audience with colorful costumes, enchanting sets, and energetic acting that stayed true to the spirit of Lewis Carroll’s timeless story. The student actors portrayed beloved characters such as Alice, the White Rabbit, the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts, and the Cheshire Cat, as well as others with charm and creativity, drawing the audience into the curious and topsy-turvy world of Wonderland.
The production was part of a youth theatre outreach effort designed to introduce younger audiences to the magic of live performance and to encourage an appreciation for the arts. The cast worked seamlessly together, demonstrating impressive stage presence, clear storytelling, and a strong commitment to their roles. Every scene was full of movement and energy, and the whimsical atmosphere kept students engaged from the opening curtain to the final bow.
“This performance was an amazing opportunity for our students to experience live theatre up close,” said Mr. Maschal, principal of Los Alamitos Middle School. Ms.Willcox, a teacher at Los Alamitos Middle School, said: “The actors did an incredible job bringing the story to life, and it’s inspiring to see our students respond so enthusiastically to the performance.
