GRANTS, N.M. - The Bureau of Land Management will host an evening constellation exploration program Friday, Sept. 4, at La Ventana Natural Arch.

Park ranger Evie Forster said the free program will begin at 8:30 p.m. and is expected to last about one hour. Visitors will have an opportunity to explore constellations and other celestial features visible in the night sky.

BLM staff will also have a new Dobsonian telescope available, allowing participants to take a closer look at stars and other nighttime objects.

If cloudy conditions prevent stargazing, the event will shift to a “Creatures of the Night” program focused on wildlife that becomes active after sunset.

No registration is required. Participants are encouraged to bring their curiosity and dress appropriately for nighttime conditions.

The program is being organized through the BLM Rio Puerco Field Office’s Grants Field Station.
