GRANTS, N.M. — Two very special young men, Brandon Barris and Kayden Lord, were this year’s recipients of the Milton Head GHS Scholarship. Both have big future plans, and both represent the kind of young men with grit and determination that will bring real value to their communities.
Milton Head, in whose memory the scholarship is awarded, was known for his ability to fix and build just about anything. He was an amazing athlete, scholar, community leader, beloved husband and father, and someone who worked his way from contract mining to negotiating deals for Conoco in Japan. Milton appreciated hard work and would have been pleased with both Brandon and Kayden who understand the value of a strong work ethic.
Brandon has always been interested in the trades and has already entered a trade school to earn his certification. Kayden has been working throughout high school in addition to finishing school and planning his next steps. Both Brandon and Kayden know what it is to overcome difficulties, stick with it, and get the job done. The scholarship committee was pleased to support such excellent young men and looks forward to hearing about their success in the future.
