We want to clearly inform our readers and our community that the physical office of the Cibola Citizen will be closing. This is not an April Fools’ joke. It is a real and difficult change for our newspaper.
The Cibola Citizen struggled financially in 2025, and like many small newspapers, we have had to make hard decisions to keep going. Earlier this year, the cost of the newspaper increased to $2, but we are grateful to say that the Cibola Citizen is staying open.
We remain deeply thankful for our advertisers, local businesses, and loyal readers. Their support is the reason this award-winning newspaper is still here.
For now, we are located at 200 W. Santa Fe Ave. and will remain there through May 31. After that, our office will become virtual and our staff will work from home while we continue looking for a stable office space in the future.
Even without a physical office, we are still available by phone and still willing to meet with people in the community. We are especially grateful to the Grants Public Library, which has agreed to help us meet with clients who need to pay with cash or purchase bundles of newspapers.
We know this change is disappointing.
We are sad, too.
It has been an honor to work along Route 66 and on Santa Fe Avenue, in a place tied so closely to the history of Grants and Cibola County.
But please know this: the newspaper is not closing. We are still here, still working, and still committed to serving the people of Cibola County.
Thank you for your trust, your patience, and your continued support.
