As the summer winds down, Cibola County is set to celebrate in style with the highly anticipated Cibola Trail Days, featuring the Rugged West Adventure Rally. The event, spanning two days from September 6 to 7, promises a thrilling mix of activities, entertainment, and community spirit, making it a fitting send-off to the season.

The festivities kick off on Friday, September 6, with a 'Mosey on Main-Street' event, where participants can explore Grants' Main Street while playing a game of Clue. The day will also include registration for key weekend events like the Poker Run, Drag Race, and Rodeo, alongside a lively Cornhole Tournament at Fire & Ice Park. As the evening progresses, attendees can enjoy the Beer Garden, followed by a concert featuring the renowned Al Hurricane Jr., and a special stargazing session at Sandstone Bluffs, offering a serene close to the first day.

Saturday, September 7, begins bright and early with a Pancake Breakfast at Fire & Ice Park, an event that not only fills bellies but also fosters community connections. The day is packed with outdoor adventures, including several morning hikes and a group mountain bike ride, making the most of Cibola's stunning natural landscapes.

One of the main attractions, the Rugged West Adventure Rally, will dominate Saturday's schedule with a Drag Race and Rodeo at the Junkyard on 66 Brewery. This high-octane event, organized by the Grants-Cibola County Chamber of Commerce, showcases the community's adventurous spirit. Under the leadership of new Executive Director Les Gaines and support from Amber Moreno, the chamber has ensured that the rally remains a highlight of the weekend, despite a year of leadership changes.

Throughout the weekend, the Kids Zone will provide endless entertainment for younger attendees, with activities including nine jumpers— one of which is a water jumper—and a dunk booth to raise funds for local causes. The event also features food and craft vendors, ensuring there's something for everyone.

Director of Grants MainStreet Project Inc. Denise Hanson expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming community support, particularly high- lighting the involvement of local schools and the collaboration with the farmer’s market. She said this collective effort is only possible thanks to the spirit of togetherness that defines Cibola Trail Days.

As Cibola County closes out the summer, Trail Days stands as a vibrant celebration of local culture, community, and the rugged beauty of the West.

With so much happening over these two days, it's clear that this is just a glimpse of what awaits attendees. Whether you're there for the thrill of the rally, the serenity of the hikes, or the simple joy of community, Cibola Trail Days promises to be an unforgettable experience.
