GRANTS, N.M. — Cibola County has reported significant growth in marijuana sales through March, marking a robust start to 2024. In March alone, Cibola County saw combined sales of marijuana reach $295,491.80, bringing the total for the first three months of Cibola’s sales in 2024 to approximately $789,505.

Grants led the way in March with $140,348.81 spent on adult recreational marijuana and $71,879.10 on medical marijuana.

Milan followed with $62,434.68 in adult recreational sales and $20,829.21 in medical sales.

In all, Cibola sold a total of $295,491.80 in marijuana in March. This was the Village of Milan’s most successful month of marijuana sales since legalization. Statewide

The county's performance is reflective of the broader expansion and success of New Mexico's cannabis industry since the legalization of adult-use recreational marijuana in April 2022.

Since the market's opening, New Mexicans have spent over $678.4 million on adult-use cannabis and an additional $331.6 million on medical cannabis products, with more than 21 million transactions processed to date. These transactions generate revenue for the state, with $75 million collected in cannabis excise taxes, aiding the general fund and benefiting local communities across New Mexico.

As of March 1, 2024, the state has issued 2,873 licenses, including 1,050 retailers, 878 manufacturers, and 459 micro producers, as expanding footprint of the cannabis sector.

Furthermore, March 2024's state data reveals continued industry growth, with medical sales totaling $13,042,682.91 and adultuse sales at $39,464,523.16, culminating in a total of $52,507,206.07 for the month. This dynamic growth indicates a strong and thriving cannabis market across New Mexico.

Cibola County has seen significant progress since the legalization. Grants has sold a total of $6,657,694.41 in marijuana; Milan, which welcomed its first marijuana shop in September 2023, has reported total sales of $309,342.30.
