GRANTS, N.M. - Ongoing cleanup activity for groundwater remediation at the Chlorinated Solvents Plume Superfund Site will continue on August 30, 2021. The activity will consist of groundwater cleanup at existing wells on City of Grants streets and shoulders through October 6, 2021 at various locations. These activities require limited road and shoulder closures during work to allow for the protection of personnel, equipment, and the general public. Lane closures and shoulder work will occur from approximately 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and the roads will fully reopen at the completion of the work day. No overnight road closures are anticipated, according to Jacobs, the contractor for the New Mexico Environmental Department at the Superfund Site.
When required, road closures will be conducted using 8-foot-wide movable traffic barricades and traffic control barrels. Also, according to Jacobs, shoulder work areas will be cordoned off using barrels around the active work zone. The map shows road closure and shoulder work areas, as well as the typical traffic control plans which indicate the placement of the traffic control equipment.
Although Jacobs field personnel may not be within the work zone the entire time the traffic control equipment is set up each day, during emergencies, the traffic control equipment (e.g., barricades and barrels) can be moved by emergency personnel to provide access within the work areas to emergency equipment.
