GRANTS, NM – A small, private aircraft crashed in the City of Grants, just outside the Grants-Milan Municipal Airport last Thursday.
The incident, which occurred because of a mechanical failure midflight, led to the downing of the aircraft on August 15 around 1 p.m. The craft sustained noticeable physical damage to its underside.
In this courtesy photo, emergency crews can be seen inspecting damage to the craft after its hard landing, assessing the scene for potential hazards.
The plane was relatively new and had been refueled prior to the crash.
The pilot, who will not be named, was physically walking around fine after the crash when Grants Fire and Rescue, Grants Police Department, and Milan Police Department arrived on scene.
