GRANTS, N.M. —The New Mexico Department of Veterans Services (DVS) is looking to fill the vacant Veterans Service Officer (VSO) position in its Grants/Cibola County office.

The main responsibility of a VSO is to assist veterans or their eligible dependent with filing VA claims, filing for state veterans benefits, and with anything else a veteran or their eligible dependents needs help.

In addition, the VSO will coordinate with the supervisor to develop and plan marketing strategies, along with coordinating community veterans outreach and town hall meetings. The VSO will keep current on all federal and state veterans benefits, and will coordinate with the supervisor to maintain all mandatory training and accreditation according to U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) accreditation standards.

This is a full-time, classified state government position. Preference will be given to veterans.
