CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. – A small wildfire remains active in Cibola County after being reported Monday morning near El Malpais National Monument.
The Encerrito Fire was discovered at approximately 8:59 a.m. Aug. 24 and was estimated at onetenth of an acre, according to incident information from the Southwest Coordination Center.
The fire is located in Cibola County near the El Malpais area. Its cause remains undetermined.
No containment percentage, personnel count or damage information had been reported as of the latest update Monday evening.
The incident remained listed as active as of 6:13 p.m. Aug. 24.
The Cibola Citizen will continue to monitor the Encerrito Fire and provide additional information if the incident changes significantly.
