Grand Opening! Village of Milan Unveils New Location for Village Hall

MILAN, NM – This weekend the Village of Milan unveiled their new office building with a grand opening for residents. The Grand Opening was held on Friday June 15, and included speeches from Mayor Felix Gonzalez and Village Manager Linda Cooke and refreshments being provided by Homestake Mining Company.

The Grand Opening began with a ribbon cutting outside of the new village hall. The cutting was conducted by Mayor Gonzalez as well as the other city employees that were present. The event consisted of an opening prayer that was given by Gonzalez, the pledge of allegiance that was conducted by Trustee Roseanne Lopez, a welcoming address given by Gonzalez, a TBK Bank representative history of the new location presented by Village Manager Cooke and Finance Director Candi Williams, the event ended with refreshments provided by Homestake Mining Company and tours of the new building.

During the address Gonzalez stated, “We are very grateful that Mr. Clemente Sanchez and the executives of TBK bank donated this building to our village… This village hall will serve our citizens for many years to come.” The village will still be working on the new hall to continue renovating and upgrading the building. Gonzalez also spoke about the village employees and thanked many individuals for their support and work with the village. He stated, “Right now we are all working together. Our employees are the best employees I think, and I want to thank them all for what they do, they did a great job.” The total amount spent for the new village hall came out to $174,168.79, they saved $825,000 for doing the renovations and labor by themselves.

The Village of Milan wanted to also extend special thanks to the following individuals and businesses: building donation, TBK Bank; food and drinks, Homestake Mining Company; Contractors, Better Built Construction, Corry Jaramillo, Wizard Electric, Andrew Jaramillo, Aaron Deans Carpets, Aaron Dean, Quality Maintenance, Teresa Ramirez, and Gonzalez Woodworks 505.

The new location features: a central location, a secure drop box, drivethrough for easier accessibility, and a larger meeting space. The new village hall is located at 609 West Highway 66 Milan, NM and the hours of operation for the new location are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. They are also closed for major holidays.
