CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. — The Grants-Cibola County Chamber of Commerce is putting the final pieces in place for its 85th Annual Fourth of July Parade, and this year promises to be one of the most exciting and memorable celebrations yet.

The parade will kick off promptly at 9 a.m. on Friday, July 4, starting at Fire and Ice Park and making its way down Wayne and Santa Fe Avenue before concluding at the Grants Public Library. This year’s theme — “Celebrating Our Mining Legacy” — honors the generations of miners, their families, and the vital role that mining has played in shaping the history and economy of Cibola County.

With no cost to enter a float, the Chamber is encouraging all kinds of participants — churches, youth sports teams, cheerleading squads, businesses, civic clubs, and more — to join in the fun. Whether you plan to ride in a truck, tow a trailer, march in a walking group, or roll along in a classic car, everyone is invited to help make this year’s parade the most diverse and lively yet.

Applications must be turned in by June 30 and can be picked up or dropped off at any of the following locations:

• RE/MAX — 1020 W. Santa Fe Ave.

• Mt. Taylor Coffee — 1020 W. Santa Fe Ave.

• Tom Fitzsimmons State Farm — 800 First Street The parade will feature special guest Grand Marshal Jack Farley, who will lead the festivities from a convertible provided by Stacey Corley. Parade judges will be on hand to evaluate each float fairly and award prizes across several categories, so this is the perfect opportunity to put your creativity on display!

And that’s just the beginning. After the parade, the excitement continues at the Grants Rodeo Grounds with the Wild West Days Open Rodeo starting at 2 p.m. Rodeo lovers can look forward to bronc riding, roping, barrel racing, and all the thrills and spills that come with a classic Fourth of July rodeo.

As the rodeo winds down, stay for a special live concert by Chevel Shepherd, the Season 15 winner of The Voice. Shepherd will take the stage at the Rodeo Grounds in the late afternoon and promises to deliver a powerhouse performance of country favorites for all to enjoy.

Finally, as the sun sets, the City of Grants will host its fireworks spectacular at 8:45 p.m. behind Grants High School. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and come celebrate the nation’s birthday under a sky full of color and light.

With a full day of family-friendly entertainment, local food and craft vendors, music, and a sense of small-town pride, the Fourth of July in Grants is sure to offer something for everyone. Don’t miss out on this tradition — join your friends and neighbors downtown and help make this Fourth of July one to remember!
