GRANTS, N.M. – Library Director, Nadine Jiron, stated the Grants Public Library is a valuable resource for the community. She believes that the library is a safe space for everyone to be able to come to have a quiet place to work and read. The library is located at 1101 First Street.
The library staff works to provide a welcoming, judgment free environment for people of all ages. Their goal is to answer questions or find the resources to get answers. This ensures everyone can leave feeling that they got what they needed. A library card will be needed in order to make use of the library's resources.
To get a library card, an application will need to be filled out along with a photo identification card and proof of a mailing address. Kids under 13 will need an adult with a library card to assist them in getting their own.
Up to seven books may be checked out at a time for up to twenty days. Up to five DVDs and Blu-Ray disks can be checked out for five days. If a patron needs any material for longer, they may request a renewal before their time runs out. A late fee of 10 cents will be charged per day, per item. Internet access is limited to 30 minutes for general browsing. Any kind of essential computer use can be extended for as long as needed. Library hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Grants Public Library also offers and takes part in community events. Flyers can be picked up inside or the schedule can be seen on their website at cityofgrants.net/library. They have currently partnered with the Grants Recreational Department for Trunk or Treat. This will take place on October 31 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., in the library parking lot.
