The Great Elementary Track Meet

Body

GRANTS, N.M. –

Every year, a new set of sixth graders compete in the annual track meet at Grants High School. The GHS track team hosts the meet which has students from all of the elementary schools participate in this event to win the "traveling trophy" and take it back to their school.

The small schools who participated on April 26 were Cubero, Seboyeta, Bluewater, San Rafael, and St. Theresa. The large schools who participated were Milan, Mesa View, and Mt. Tay lor.

The meet began with the school’s parade, national anthem, torch lighting ceremony, and Mesa View Vikings cheerleading performance to kick off the event. Students competed in running and throwing events throughout the day.

The small school who took the trophy back this year was Bluewater Elementary, and the large school who took home the trophy was Milan Elementary.

[Grants/Cibola County School District] would like to give a big “thank you” to everyone who participated and volunteered their time to help during this fun event. Your support for all of the schools is greatly appreciated.
