    CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. - Mount Taylor rises on the horizon as seen from Pole Canyon while descending from Mount Sedgwick in the Zuni Mountains on March 8, 2026. The photos come as early March precipitation remained scarce across much of Cibola County – a Drought.gov 7-day precipitation map showed the Grants–El Malpais area essentially near zero moisture for the week, with only a faint pocket northwest of Grants registering light totals. Soil in the mountains was dry.
