GALLUP, N.M. Paving and surfacing operations will begin on NM 118 east of Gallup starting May 18.
The project covers approximately 1.5 miles, from Gallup to the intersection of NM 566.
FNF Construction Inc., (Contractor) will be paving the newly constructed roadway which will be followed by an OGFC (Open Graded Friction Course) wearing surface, which enhances road safety by reducing hydroplaning and splashing while also maintaining good friction and reducing traffic noise.

Bridge rehabilitation project on NM 118 underway
A $4.5 million infrastructure investment GALLUP, N.M. — Work on $4.5 million in a bridge rehabilitation project is taking place west of Gallup on NM 118 starting at mile post 9.2.
This project includes bridge and drainage improvements, guardrail replacement, fencing and striping of three bridges on NM 118 between mile marker 5.5 to 11.5.
N.M. 118 will be closed in both directions at mile marker 9.2. Drivers are asked to use I-40 as a detour.
Hasse Contracting Inc. is the contractor for the project. Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, weather permitting. The project is expected to be completed in late September.
