Police Investigate Death After Early-Morning Fight Call at Elks Lodge in Grants

GRANTS, N.M. – The Grants Police Department is investigating a death reported early Sunday morning following a call about a large fight at the Elks Lodge in Grants.

According to a police press release issued in response to questions from the Cibola Citizen, officers were dispatched at about 12:36 a.m. on Dec. 28 to 805 Charles St. after a report of a large fight. When officers arrived, they made contact with several people at the scene.

During the response, officers were alerted to a man sitting inside a vehicle who was reportedly not feeling well. Police said officers evaluated the man and began administering life-saving measures.

Grants Fire Department personnel arrived and continued those efforts, but the man died at the scene.

Police said the cause of death is unknown at this time and the incident remains under investigation. The department said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
