CIBOLA COUNTY, NM – With the Primary Election season ending in Cibola County residents have begun to see a bigger picture for the makeup of our local, state, and federal governments for the coming years.
This primary election saw 28.33 percent of eligible voters casting their ballots. Out of 11,818 eligible voters in Cibola County, only 3,349 cast their ballots. In Cibola County these voters were able to cast their ballots at 15 polling locations for 30 precincts. These polling locations will be used for the General Election.
Federal Primary Races
In Cibola County, the Democrat President of the United States Primary Candidate Joeseph R. Biden won with 1,567 votes. Marianne D. Williamson was also on the ballot and received 297 votes. 287 votes were for an uncommitted delegate.
The Republican President of the United States Primary Candidate Donald J. Trump won with 855 votes. Three other republican candidates were also on the ballot including Chris Christie who received 29 votes, Nikki Haley who received 79 votes and Vivek Ramaswamy who received 13 votes. 29 votes were for an uncommitted delegate.
United States Senator Democrat Primary Candidate Martin Heinrich won with 1,940 votes in an uncontested race.
United States Senator Republican Primary Candidate Nella Louise Domenici won with 824 votes in an uncontested race.
United States Representative for District 2 Democrat Primary Candidate Gabriel Vasquez won with 1,906 votes in an uncontested race.
United States Representative District 2 Republican Primary Candidate Yvette Herrell won with 878 votes in an uncontested race.
State Primary Races
In Cibola County for State Senator District Four Democrat Primary Candidate George K. Munoz won with 1,023 votes. Democrat Keith Edward Hillock was also on the ballot and received 225 votes.
State Senator District 30 Democrat Primary Candidate Angel M. Charley won with 562 votes. Clemente Sanchez was also on the ballot and received 419 votes.
Democrat State Representative District Six Primary Candidate Eiseo Lee Alcon won with 439 votes. Two other democrat candidates were also on the ballot, Daniel J. Torrez received 287 votes and Pricilla Benally received 195 votes.
Republican State Representative District Six Primary Candidate Paul L. Spencer won with 477 votes in an uncontested race.
State Representative District 69 Primary Candidate Michelle Abeyta won with 673 votes. Two other candidates were also on the ballot, Harry Garcia received 520 votes and Stanley E. Michael received 162 votes.
County Primary Races
In Cibola County District Attorney 13th Judicial District Primary Candidate Barbara A. Romo won with 1,884 votes in an uncontested race.
Cibola County Clerk Primary Candidate Natalie A. Grine won with 1,925 votes in an uncontested race.
Cibola County Treasurer Primary Candidate Joanne Martinez won with 1,130 votes. Two other candidates were also on the ballot, Johnny A. Pino received 613 votes and Wendy Michelle Self received 438 votes.
Democrat Cibola County Commissioner District Two Primary Candidate Ray D. Carpenter won with 264 votes. Ruben Sandoval was also on the ballot and received 176 votes.
Republican Cibola County Commissioner District Two Primary Candidate Fred E. Rodarte won with 147 votes in an uncontested race.
Democrat Cibola County Commissioner District Four Primary Candidate Charles A. Lundstrom won with 204 votes. Michael W. Lewis was also on the ballot and received 136 votes.
Republican Cibola County Commissioner District Four Primary Candidate Joseph Tanner Windhorst won with 120 votes. Two other candidates were also on the ballot, Adelaida Grace Yarborough received 104 votes and Harry L. Hall received 87 votes.
Cibola County Commissioner District Five Primary Candidate Georgia A. Routzen Sanchez won with 380 votes in an uncontested race.
