 New Partnerships

Since Covid, more than sixty students have continued to do school online, but there hasn't been an online option in the Cibola County Schools, until now. GCCS has partnered with the Pecos Cyber Academy, a state funded charter school that is online, giving online students the choice to return to a GCCS schooling.

Additionally, the schools have partnered with the Cook Center Human Connection. This is a federal grant for mental health and suicide prevention. About 20 school districts in New Mexico have already partnered with this. The Cook Center provides mental health councilors whose goal, according to Superintendent Lane Widner “is to eradicate suicide and depression.”

Executive Session Subjects

During the several hours of executive session, Superintendent Widner updated the Board on employee changes, non-renewals, transfers, promotions, demotions, new positions, individual qualifications, and all other employee movements and contemplated movements and their effects on the Organizational Chart and Strategic Plan for School Year 2025-2026.

Next, the Board discussed Superintendent/Board Relations.

No action was taken during this closed discussion.
