GRANTS, N.M. - The September 25th lodger’s tax meeting approved funding for the Grants-Cibola Chamber of Commerce, Grants Rodeo Association, New Mexico Mining Museum, and Grants MainStreet.
The Grants-Cibola Chamber of Commerce received $4,808.28 for the Rugged West and 4th of July events.
According to the Chamber President Melinda Salazar, the Rugged West event sold out both nights, with 200 VIP attendees, a $10 minimum donation, over 300 general admissions, and more than 40 vendors. She explained that the chamber is planning for the event next year.
Salazar also explained that the 4th of July parade featured over 100 floats, none of which were charged since it was a free event. The parade included 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and comment choice categories, 32 vendors, and music.
The Grants Rodeo Association proposed $3,370.06 and was approved. Members of the association reported that the 4th of July Rodeo was a success. The livestock feed exceeded their initial proposal, but every animal received adequate nutrition. The stands were full, and thanks to the hard work involved, the event was a success. Out of the 31 contestants who won, 267 entires were received over two days, with 91% coming from out of town.
Grants MainStreet proposed and was approved for $1,500.00.
The New Mexico Mining Museum proposed $3,973.04.
Backup award requests will need to be submitted before October 21. The next lodger’s tax meeting will be held on October 30, 2025.
