Gun fire in Grants, shots fired in area of Washington Avenue and Nimitz Drive

GRANTS, N.M. — On January 20, 2021, at around 8:30 p.m. Grants Police responded to a shot fired call in the area of Nimitz Drive and Washington Avenue.

Officers arrived on the scene and contacted both victims of a red SUV. No injuries were reported at this time. The identity of the victims will not be released.

After a thorough investigation interviewing witnesses, Grants Police Lieutenant Chavez issued a warrant for Daniel Joseph Murray’s arrest. Murray has been charged with two counts of third-degree felony charges, two counts of fourth degree felony charges and one misdemeanor charge.

Murray surrendered to law enforcement on Monday, Jan. 25.

GPD’s fugitives of the week

GRANTS, N.M. — The Grants Police Department is looking for two individuals on separate charges.

Anthony Tapp Jr. is wanted on a felony warrant for trafficking methamphetamines, a felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Emmaleen Chaves is wanted by the adult probation and parole department.
