GRANTS, N.M. – Laramide Resources Ltd. announced Tuesday that the New Mexico Environment Department has advanced the Company’s DP-2004 Groundwater Discharge Permit application for the “Churchrock-Crownpoint In-Situ Recovery Uranium Project” to the public notice phase of the permitting process.

NMED has provided the company with the public notice package and associated instructions required to begin public notification and stakeholder engagement activities as part of the state’s review process, Laramide stated. The public notice, which had not been posted on the state website as of Tuesday morning, initiates the formal public participation component of the permitting process.

The proposed permit application supports the development of an ISR uranium recovery operation at Church Rock Section 8 and includes authorization for the use of a groundwater-based lixiviant solution to facilitate uranium recovery.

The Navajo Nation controls access to Section 8 through Section 17 and will not grant access for any mining purposes according to the Diné Natural Resources Protection Act, which became law in 2005.
