State Releases Top New Mexico Baby Names of 2025

SANTA FE, N.M. – Olivia and Noah were the most popular baby names in New Mexico in 2025, according to a newly released provisional list from the New Mexico Department of Health.

The New Mexico Department of Health’s Bureau of Vital Records and Health Statistics released the state’s top baby names for 2025 on Dec. 16. The agency noted the list is provisional as of Dec. 10, 2025, and final rankings could shift as additional birth records are processed.

trends:

Emma fell out of the top

10 for the first time since NMDOH began tracking baby names in 2014. It was replaced by Aria, which returned to the top 10 after a one-year absence. On the boys’ side, NMDOH reported the top 10 names for

2025 are the same as in

2024.

The department also noted the staying power of closely related names on the girls’ list: Sophia has ranked in the top 10 for 10 of the last 11 years, while the alternative spelling, Sofia, has been in the top 10 for seven years over that same period.
