SEBOYETA/GRAN TS, N.M. – Cibola County is proud of its veterans and came together in a display of pride across the land to honor those who have served. Veteran’s Day is celebrated in the United States every year at 11:11 a.m., the date and time that marked the end of World War I. The Cibola Citizen could not be at every event, but would like to thank Cibola’s veterans for their sacrifice in defending America.
Seboyeta Honors Veterans
Veterans, their families, and members of the community all came together to celebrate a Veterans Day ceremony that was held at the Seboyeta Community Center. This was to honor active-duty service members and veterans from all branches of the military. The Posting of Colors was performed by GHS ROTC after the "Eleventh Hour" and an introduction to the ceremony. Seboyeta Elementary Students then led the Pledge of Allegiance, and afterwards, the National Anthem. Students also sang a few other songs further into the ceremony. Following the invocation, veterans both living and deceased were honored one by one by representatives from each branch of the military. Each member was met with applause and gratitude for their service. One man present was especially recognized as a Veteran of the Navy in World War Two from Seboyeta. His name is Corcinio Jaramillo. He was thanked for his service and was met with thunderous applause.
