GRANTS, N.M. – Residents near the intersection of Clovis Avenue and Nimitz Boulevard should prepare for a temporary water outage Thursday, July 16, as crews complete work connected to new water infrastructure improvements.
The City of Grants said the outage is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. and could last approximately four to six hours. Residents in the surrounding area may experience low water pressure or a complete loss of water service during that time.
Compass Engineering, a contractor working for the city, will perform a water tie-in along Nimitz Boulevard as part of the ongoing infrastructure project.
City officials recommend that affected residents store enough water for drinking and household needs before the work begins and limit water use during the outage.
Once service is restored, residents may notice cloudy or discolored water. The city recommends allowing faucets to run for several minutes until the water clears.
The city thanked residents for their patience while the improvements are completed and said the work is intended to strengthen and improve the municipal water system.
