BLUEWATER LAKE, N.M. – As summer comes to an end and early signs of fall begin to stir across the high desert, fishing at Bluewater Lake has entered a quiet stretch.

No new catch reports have been submitted this week, and the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish currently lists the fishing rating as “Unknown.” This could reflect reduced angler activity rather than a lack of fish, as recent weeks have seen a tapering off in visitor reports following the end of summer break.

There have also been no new fish stocking events reported at Bluewater Lake or Grants Riverwalk Park during this period.

Stage II fire restrictions remain in effect at Bluewater Lake State Park through the end of the month, though officials anticipate conditions may ease soon. Until then, all campfires, charcoal grills, and open-flame stoves remain prohibited, and smoking is restricted to enclosed vehicles or cleared areas. Visitors are urged to continue practicing caution as dry conditions persist.

For those planning a trip, remember that Bluewater remains open daily, with boating conditions rated excellent and the lake still offering quiet opportunities to cast a line—or simply enjoy the shifting season. Anglers can call 505-876-2391 or visit the Bluewater Lake State Park webpage for current information and updates.

No fishing reports were received this week from Grants Riverwalk Pond.
