Grants to Benefit Four Tribal Entities
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., - October 30, 2025— The Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) and Homewise announced $1 million in grants to support affordable housing for New Mexico families during a ceremonial check presentation today in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Grants of $250,000 each were awarded to Pueblo of Acoma Housing Authority, Santa Ana Pueblo, San Ildefonso Housing Authority and the Pueblo of Zia Housing Services Department through FHLB Dallas member Homewise.
The grants were part of a $2.7 million commitment benefiting 11 housing organizations this year through the FHLB Dallas Native American Housing Opportunities (NAHO) Fund, which was created to address the housing needs of federally recognized tribes and tribally designated housing entities.
“We are honored to be a member of FHLB Dallas and to connect these tribal entities with grants that will facilitate increased access to affordable housing across these four pueblos,” said Homewise CEO Michael Loftin. “We’re proud to contribute to initiatives that foster longterm community growth across New Mexico.”
The pueblos will use the grants in a variety of ways.
Santa Ana Pueblo will expand infrastructure for new home construction and rehabilitate aging housing stock while the Pueblo of Acoma Housing Authority will provide rental assistance to tribal members who are living in the housing authority’s managed rental units, freeing up other funding for development of new housing.
The San Ildefonso Housing Authority will repair owner-occupied homes, and Pueblo of Zia Housing Services Department will use its grant for consultant fees and predevelopment costs associated with a new planned subdivision.
Greg Hettrick, senior vice president and director of Community Investment at FHLB Dallas, said NAHO Fund grants may be used for a wide range of housing-related needs, including down payment and closing cost assistance, rental support, home repairs and new construction. The program also provides grants for administrative and operational expenses.
“These grants will help create affordable housing opportunities for families to build a better future through increased access to quality housing,” he said.
