GRANTS, N.M. Next year, 2026, is a major election year.

Cibola County will be electing two county commissioners, the seat in District 1 currently held by Christine Lowery and the seat in District 3 currently held by Ralph

Lucero.

Cibola residents will be voting on their New Mexico House of Representatives and state Senate seats. These are the positions that represent Cibola County in Santa Fe during the Legislative Session.

Cibola residents will be helping the rest of New Mexico to elect a new governor, current Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has served two terms and cannot serve again as governor, leaving the field wide open for candidates.

Cibola residents will be helping to elect their federal US Representatives and Senators, especially for those impacted by the US Government Shutdown of 2025, this is an opportunity to make your voice heard.

The 2026 election cycle offers two elections for local residents to get involved in, run for office, vote, and help shape the future of their community.

2026 Primary Election: (this is where voters select the two contenders who face off in the general election) Tuesday, June 2, 2026

2026 General Election: (this is where voters decide between the two primary election winners who will govern the next term) Tuesday, November 3, 2026
