Pauline Gallegos

Pauline Gallegos, age 84, passed away suddenly on January 5, 2026. She was born in Española, New Mexico, and later made her home in Grants, New Mexico, where she met her beloved husband and built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, and love.

Pauline was married to Joe Gallegos for 66 wonderful years. Together they raised their family and created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and lasting memories.

She is survived by her loving husband Joe Gallegos; her children Rhetta and Mike King, Leonard and Jeanette Gallegos, Chris and Julie Gallegos, and Sharon Buscema; her grandchildren Kristin (Marlon), Johnny (Angelina), Melissa, Scott (Michele) Mikaela (Hector), Jose (Jennifer), Ashley (Uriel), Christopher (Lisa), Jose (Jennifer), Joshua, Jeremy, and Noah (Sylvia); 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She is also survived by her siblings Paul Lopez (Marie), Mary Ortiz (Mike), Merlinda Lopez, Josie Armijo, Mary Lou Gallegos (Gabriel), Jane Marez, and Genevieve Gallegos, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished godchildren.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents Herman and Celsa Lopez; her siblings Herman, Cirilio, Jane, and Alfonso; and her beloved grandson Vincent Buscema.

Pall bearers will be Johnny Gallegos, Sal Buscema Scott Busema Christopher and Noah Gallegos, Jose, Joshua and Jeremy Gallegos Honorary Pall bearers – great grandchildren Pauline showed her love through her hands and her heart. She lovingly made blankets for each of her children and grandchildren, created beautiful flower arrangements for family celebrations, and passed down her famous recipes to generations. She treasured time spent with her husband, especially their visits to the casino, where they shared laughter and companionship.

A viewing will be held at 8:30 a.m. with rosary and mass to follow at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, 213 Smith Street. Reception will be held at The Elks, 805 Charles Street in Grants, NM, 87020.

Pauline will be remembered for her love of the Catholic faith and the deep love she had for her family. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched and the traditions she passed down.
