Flu, no problem! In a recent game on February 3 against Ramah, Lady Hawks head coach Jolynn Martinez coached the game over “facetime” (a video app where a person can talk and see others over a smartphone) as she could not attend due to an illness. “It was a game we couldn’t handle,” said Martinez.

“They (players) played their hearts out and gave it their all.”

Is technology not great?

Flu aside, the Hawks handily defeated Ramah 69-30.

They played their next game on February 9th against Rehoboth Christian (10-10, 2-4) and also easily defeated them 4818.

“It felt great to be back on the court after being out a week,” said Martinez. “Rehoboth had a few new girls we had not seen since we first played them–but it didn’t faze us”.

When asked about their great run at districts so far Martinez said, “It’s going pretty well–I have immense faith in these girls, and I believe they deserve every win.” The Lady Hawks, who have 11 wins in a row, are looking to make their 12th win in a row with their next game on February 12th at “The Nest” against Navajo Pine (7-14,0-5).

The Lady Hawks are number one in district 1 2A followed by Hozho Academy (14-8, 4-20).

The Laguna-Acoma boys basketball team is 516,2-4 after a recent defeat by Rehoboth Christian (1-6, 4-10) by a score of 78-43. The L-A boys are 4th in district 1 2A.
