GRANTS, N.M. - The Grants High School Ladies Tennis Team is currently 2-4 after a tournament at Piedra Vista where they placed 5th. In that tournament they squared off with Espanola where they lost 8-0.
In the Espanola match number 1 Kylee Sandoval was defeated by Gabriela Fulgenzi 6-0, 6-0. Number 2 Amelia Torrez was defeated by Olivia Suazo 62, 6-0. Number 3 for the Lady Pirates, Maya Yates was defeated by Sofia Fulgenzi 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles play Kylee Sandoval and Maya Yates were defeated by Olivia Suazo and Sofia Fulgenzi 6-1, 6-1. In number 2 singles Gabriella Fulgenzi and Kaydence Arrey defeated Amelia Torrez and Kelby Cash 6-3, 6-1. In number 3 doubles Caprice Gallegos and Kynzie Ustupski defeated Myranda Arrellano and Kimberly Griego 3-6, 6-2. Next up for the Lady Pirates is Bosque Prep (0-1) on the road on March 19th.
The GHS boys tennis team is currently 2-3 after taking 4th at the Panther Invite, a tournament at 5A Piedra Vista. In that tournament they drew the host team and were defeated 9-0.
Pirates number 1 Carlos Fernandez was defeated by Cyrus LeSueur 6-1, 6-2. Number 2 Bernard Joshua Laberinto was defeated by Brandt Edwards 6-0, 6-1. Number 3 Joaquin Gomez was defeated by Jayden Arnell 6-0, 6-0.
