Opioid Remediation Collaborative of New Mexico Expands Access to Lifesaving NARCAN in Cibola County

Body

CIBOLA COUNTY,, N.M. — The Opioid Remediation Collaborative of New Mexico (ORCNM), in partnership with local community leaders, is increasing access to lifesaving overdose- reversal medication by installing publicly accessible NARCAN boxes at four key locations across Cibola County.

The new NARCAN boxes will be located at:

• Grants Public Library

• Milan Village Hall

• Smith’s Strip Mall

• Bluewater Village Fire Station Each box will be stocked with NARCAN and simple, step-by-step instructions on how to administer it. These boxes are designed to ensure that anyone—family members, bystanders, or individuals themselves—can quickly access this critical resource during an emergency.

“Making NARCAN easy to find and free to use is one of the most effective ways we can save lives,” said representatives from ORCNM. “These locations were selected by community leaders who understand where people naturally gather and where access matters most.”

This initiative is part of ORCNM’s broader commitment to expanding prevention resources, reducing stigma, and strengthening communitydriven responses to substance use across New Mexico. By placing NARCAN in trusted, familiar public spaces, the Collaborative aims to empower residents with the tools they need to respond confidently and compassionately when an overdose occurs.
